Energy and Housing in Tweede Exloërmond
Marleen vd Werff and I investigated how homeowners could make their homes more sustainable, what they have already done or why they are not taking action. Some homes in Tweede Exloërmond are outdated and guzzle energy. That is why housing corporation Woonservice has started a neighbourhood renewal project, in which some rental housing stock will be demolished and some will be renovated. However, private and social housing is mixed and sometimes even share a roof. The municipality of Borger-Odoorn commissioned us to write a policy-strategy detailing how to you deal with this and how to optimally support homeowners to become more sustainable.
For this project we worked closely with housing corporation Woonservice, and of course with the residents. Even in times of corona, our approach was co-creative. We were looking for inventive ways to keep participation going, for example by starting a youtube channel and working with visual materials such as the 'praatplaat'.
